India, China conclude official delegation level talks, sign 8 agreements

India and China have signed eight agreements during the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to India. The official delegation level talks between Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh concluded after signing various MoUs relating to trade, culture and water resources. The Chinese Premier said that five areas covered in the joint statement include liberalisation of trade and investment and increasing people-to-people cooperation.

Addressing a joint press conference with Premier Li, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the two sides agreed to maintaining stability and prosperity in the border region. The Prime Minister also invited Chinese investments in Indian infrastructure. Singh said the mandate of the Expert Level Mechanism should be expanded to include information sharing on upstream development projects on these rivers.
