Bharti Airtel trades in green despite receiving service tax notice

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 312.70, up by 7.75 points or 2.54 % from its previous closing of Rs. 304.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 305.70 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 313.75 and Rs. 305.70 respectively. So far 120618 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 370.40 on 25-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 238.50 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 327.85 and Rs 303.30 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 118406.99 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.55%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.83% and 5.62% respectively.

Bharti Airtel has reportedly received a show cause notice from service tax department for alleged tax evasion of Rs 200 crore. The notice has been served to telecom major for claiming tax credit on towers. The towers according to service tax department are immovable property so there was no credit due to the company.

Bharti Airtel on the other hand has contested the department’s stance saying that towers are not immovable property. The final order has not been passed in the case yet.
