SAIL shines on reporting capital expenditure of Rs 44,536 crore over last seven years

SAIL is currently trading at Rs. 59.05, up by 0.05 points or 0.08% from its previous closing of Rs. 59.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 58.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 59.20 and Rs. 58.25 respectively. So far 1,79,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 101.60 on 07-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 56.40 on 16-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 64.15 and Rs. 58.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 24,390.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 80.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.67% and 3.32% respectively.

SAIL, steel major has incurred capital expenditure of Rs 44,536 crore over the past seven years. The company had proposed 61,870 crore of capital expenditure for last seven years, so as to raise the annual capacity to 20.23 million tonnes. In the last fiscal it had spent Rs 8,993 crore on capex last fiscal, the lowest since 2009-10.

In order to increase the capacity it has spent Rs 424 crore in April, the first month of the current fiscal. It has been expanding capacity at all its major steel plants at Rourkela, Bokaro, Durgapur, Bhilai and IISCO. The entity has spent Rs 4,195 crore on capex in 2008-09, Rs 9,495 crore in 2009-10, Rs 10,210 crore in 2010-11 and Rs 10,059 crore in 2011-12.
