Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has improved its rankings in list of top 25 global producers of the metal in 2012 to stand at 24th positions as per the data prepared by World Steel Association (WSA). SAIL’s 13.5 MT production in 2012 got it 24th rank, two notches above than its previous year’s ranking of 26. SAIL had the same output of steel in 2011. The company is also in the process of hiking its capacity by five million tonnes to 19 MT in the current fiscal.
The company has reported a decline of 71.68% in its net profit at Rs 446.53 crore in Q4FY13 as compared to net profit of Rs 1576.98 crore in the same quarter previous year. Total income from operation of the company has decreased by 9.90% to Rs 12330.42 crore as compared to Rs 13685.29 crore in corresponding quarter last year.
