Punjab Horticulture department to promote diversification in agriculture sector

05 Jun 2013 Evaluate

The Punjab Horticulture department has finalized a scheme to distribute 1.21 lakh plastic crates to farmers in order to promote diversification in agriculture sector. The plastic crates would be given to farmers at a price of Rs 123 per crate which is 50% subsidy against actual price of Rs 246 per crate.

These crates are being distributed to the farmers to provide better opportunities in the field of marketing of fruits, flowers and vegetables. These crates are very useful in maintaining quality of fruits, vegetables and flowers and farmers get good price in reward by proper presentation and marketing.

In order to bring new revolution in the field of farming there is a need to make a shift from the traditional agriculture to the horticulture farming.
