Hyderabad Industries’ Surat plant has received the GreenCo Gold Rating award instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). With this, the C K Birla Group company has become the first green building materials plant in India. The Surat plant manufactures 2.4-lakh-cubic meter of autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, using more than 65% of fly ash level from coal-based power plants. The company expects sustainable growth in volumes in the ensuing months, with its plant location helping it get access to markets in western and southern states.
