Pema Khandu takes oath as Arunachal Pradesh CM for third consecutive term

BJP leader Pema Khandu today took oath as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Mukto.

Pema Khandu was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall in the state’s capital Itanagar. Meanwhile, Chowna Mein took oath as the deputy Chief Minister of the state for his second consecutive term.

Ten other cabinet ministers were also sworn in by the Governor. They are PD Sona, Mama Natung, Dasanglu Pul, Kento Jini, GD Wangsu, Biyuram Wahge, Nyato Dukam, Wangki Lowang, Balo Raja and Ojing Tasing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda, former union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, among others were present at the swearing-in ceremony. The portfolios would be allocated later in the day, following which the first cabinet meeting of the new government.

The BJP returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third time in a row, winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly. The Assembly Elections were held simultaneously with the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
