Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in Delhi and sought the central government's support on important proposals for the development of the state.

This is Chandrababu Naidu's first meeting with PM Modi after returned to power in Andhra Pradesh. During the meeting, Andhra Pradesh CM sought enhanced assistance for Andhra Pradesh if the special category status cannot be granted to the state. The TDP president, who is on a two-day visit to the national capital, also discussed issues related to the state with Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal. Naidu is also scheduled to meet several other Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Health Minister J P Nadda.

Andhra Pradesh CM’s Delhi visit is seen as crucial for securing Central support for the state’s development following its bifurcation in 2014. The TDP is the biggest ally in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
