Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has received the first ever order for the demonstration of methanol firing in a Gas Turbine at the 350 MW Kayamkulam Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) of NTPC installed at Alappuzha district in Kerala. This will be the first such demonstration project of its kind in India. Significantly, this demonstration will pave the way for reviving unutilised gas turbine sets in the country which are inoperative due to unavailability of natural gas and naphtha.

The company has reported 23.11% rise in net profit at Rs 244.55 crore for Q1FY25 as compared to Rs 198.65 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 13.04% at Rs 3,156.74 crore for Q1FY25 as compared to Rs 2,792.47 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. On consolidated basis, the company has reported 25.62% rise in its net profit at Rs 249.12 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024 as compared to Rs 198.31 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 16.77% at Rs 3,292.64 crore for Q1FY25 as compared to Rs 2,819.83 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.
