03 Nov 2011 Evaluate

Woes of 2G scam accused Kanimozhi and 7 others seem to be interminable, as their bail plea is once again rejected by Delhi Special Court today. All the accused had been repeatedly questing for bail, however, the special court had rejected it on various grounds. The trial of the 2G scam will begin from November 11, 2011.

Judge OP Saini, who is handling the 2G scam trial, cited in his order that by no stretch of imagination Kanimozhi can be said to be suffering from any discrimination on ground of being a woman. The court has also considered the safety and security of witnesses as all the accused are billionaires and may attempt to influence them.

According to Saini, acceptance of bail plea will not only allow the accused to enjoy the ill-gotten money but also encourage many others to commit such crimes. Also, the investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had faced criticism as it failed to oppose the bail request by the accused. However, Saini’s order stated that such act of CBI will not have any impact on the case.
