Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemned the BJP in his first interview after splitting from the NDA and said that the party has become all about a single person now. Nitish also spelled out his objection to Modi and said, 'Modi hype in social media is a PR exercise, there's nothing on the ground.'

Meanwhile, the JD(U) leader, who recently broke the 17-year-old alliance with the BJP, praised senior leaders LK Advani and Atal Behari Vajpayee. 'Vajpayee is no doubt a secular leader and he was the one who talked of 'Rajdharma'. Commenting on the NDA split, Nitish said, 'We split from the NDA at the right time. I am not an opportunist, the charges are baseless. The BJP has deviated and taken a different direction.'

‘We had already told the BJP about our apprehensions. We cannot have a man who is a divisive figure; our diverse country needs a man who can unify. The BJP created an atmosphere of personality-based politics. I said what I said about Modi in 2003 but never invited him to campaign in Bihar in 2005, 2009 and last Assembly polls. We have always been against Hindutva, our initial tie-up with the BJP was only a tactical understanding,’ Nitish added.
