Bharti Airtel to reduce 4G data charges

24 Jun 2013 Evaluate

In bid to boost mass appetite for fourth-generation (4G) wireless broadband services, Bharti Airtel is planning to slash 4G data charges by 31%. Under the revised data tariff plan, entry-level customers will be allowed 2GB, 3GB and 4GB of free data usage at faster 4G speeds at 3G data charges of 450, 650 and 750 a month respectively.

The move comes barely a week after India’s biggest mobile phone company by customers and revenue lowered its data usage charges by 90% for pre-paid subscribers in Punjab and Haryana. Recently, the company has added 0.85 million users in May, 2013. Following this, the company’s total customer base increased to 189.65 million with a market share of 28.41%.

Bharti Airtel is a leading integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. The company ranks amongst the top 5 mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers.
