Chidambaram makes strong case for mining mineral deposits

Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has made out a strong case for mining mineral deposits such as coal and iron ore. He said that coal is the necessary product for power generation and power is essential for industrial development.

He further said, China had attained a rapid development because of its approach and attitude were contributive to the development, but here in India, there are many criticisms about development and there are many who want coal deposits to remain as deposits. He cited the example of Jamshedpur and said that it would not have achieved too much in development without mining iron ore deposits found there 100 years ago. He said that, mining mineral deposits would help in India’s development.
