PM in J&K, condemns Army convoy attack

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh blaming the Monday's terror attack said India stands firm against terrorism and we will not let them succeed. He said that the situation in the valley has improved and terror acts have reduced considerably and that incidents like Monday's attack must not be repeated. While stating that the rate of terror strikes was lowest in 2012, he said, he saluted the Armed forces personnel who have sacrificed their lives fighting against terrorism.

PM's visit to Jammu and Kashmir comes a day after Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists attacked an Army convoy near Bemina which killed 8 jawans and injured 19 others. PM was accompanied by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Kishtwar to inaugurate a rail link and to lay the foundation stone of the 850 MW Ratle Power Project on Tuesday.

Sonia Gandhi expressed hope that the people whose land has been acquired for the project will be adequately compensated. She was in praise of youth of Kashmir and said they have immense talent and she is hopeful that they will work for the upliftment of their families and society and mentioned that it was good that the number of youth in the civil service had increased over the years.
