Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking a steady dollar ahead of the US Federal Reserve's highly anticipated interest rate decision. Moreover, firm domestic equities and lower crude oil prices in international markets have also supported rupee sentiments. However, a fresh foreign fund outflows limited the rise in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors turned net sellers in the capital markets on Monday, as they sold shares worth Rs 1,634.98 crore, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.84, stronger by 2 paise from its previous close of 83.86 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.87 and 83.83 respectively.
