Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) Durgapur steel plant has reported a 4% increase in saleable steel output in the first quarter to June 30. The plant’s production of wheels and axles were increased by 15% in Q1 against the corresponding period of 2012-13.
SAIL is the country’s largest steel producing company. It is among the five Maharatnas of the country's Central Public Sector Enterprises. Rourkela Steel Plant located in Rourkela, Odisha is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India and was set up with German collaboration.
