CARE reaffirms ‘A1’ rating assigned to Tata Communications’ short-term bank facilities aggregating to Rs 1,814 crore. The credit rating agency has also reaffirmed ‘AA+’ rating assigned to company’s non convertible debenture (NCD) aggregating to Rs 2,350 crore. CARE has also reaffirmed ‘A1+’ rating assigned to company’s short-term debt (STD) aggregating to Rs 1,650 crore.

The ratings continue to derive strength from the strong position of the company in the global voice segment, experienced management supported by a strong promoter group, growing scale of operations, good execution capabilities and increasing contribution of the high-margin global data and managed services segment. The ratings also factor in the increase in the effective stake of Tata Communications (TCL) in Neotel.

The ratings however, continue to be constrained by the losses incurred by the company at the consolidated level due to significant losses incurred by its subsidiaries, falling tariffs as a result of heightened competition within the sector resulting in muted growth in the overall revenues of the company and increasing financial leverage.

Tata Communications, a part of the Tata Group, is engaged in transmission, global IP & VPN, converged voice, mobility, managed network connectivity, hosted data center, communications solutions and business transformation services to global and Indian enterprises and service providers as well as broadband and content services to the Indian consumers.
