30 Sep 2024 Evaluate

Copper futures were trading higher on Monday as the US dollar slipped against a basket of major currencies that makes copper cheaper for holders of other currencies, while investors are awaiting comments from Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell due later in the day. Copper prices improved further as top consumer China rolled out further stimulus measures to arrest a slowdown in the broad economy.

Copper futures for December delivery gained by $0.0645 or 1.4% at $4.6640 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
