After Dish TV, Videocon d2h too is planning to hike set-top box prices due to rupee’s fall. Direct-to-home (DTH) operator, Dish TV India has increased set-top box (STB) prices by Rs 250 with effect from July 4, 2013. Further, the Videocon group is planning to go in for Initial Public offering (IPO) of its DTH operations by August 15.

Meanwhile, the Group is awaiting clarity on FDI to sell stake in ‘Next’ retail. The group, earlier, was looking to sell 26% stake in the business initially and sell 51% stake in the chain eventually by December last year. But the potential buyers-two US retailers and two European firms- have raised doubts on the conditions put by the government while allowing foreign companies to invest in Indian multi brand retail.

Videocon d2h is the DTH service provided by the Videocon Group. Videocon Group is an industrial conglomerate with interests all over the world, and is an Indian multinational company. The group has 17 manufacturing sites in India and plants in China, Poland, Italy and Mexico. It is also the third largest picture tube manufacturer in the world.
