ONGC soars on the buzz of drilling deepest well in KG basin

Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) is currently trading at Rs. 312.90, up by 4.40 points or 1.43% from its previous closing of Rs. 308.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 314.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 314.40 and Rs. 310.75 respectively. So far 71739 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 354.10 on 18-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 248.75 on 27-Nov-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 353.00 and Rs. 305.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 267786.84 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.09% and 13.68% respectively.

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has reportedly drilled the deepest well in search for oil and gas in the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin, thereby surpassing its own earlier world record set in January 2013 for drilling a well in optimum water depth.

The company spud well 1-D-1 in block KG-DWN-2005/1 in water depth of 10,411 feet (3,174 meters). Since 2004, ONGC has drilled over 100 deepwater wells, out of these, 25 wells have been drilled in water depth of 5,000 feet to 7,500 feet, and 16 wells in water depth of 7,500 feet to 10,000 feet.
