Copper futures settle higher on surging demand

23 Oct 2024 Evaluate
Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday amid a surge in demand following latest stimulus measures in the world's top metals consumer China. However, the strong American currency kept the global metals under pressure. Conflicts in the Middle East and uncertainty surrounding the upcoming US election have limited further gains in copper prices to some extent.

Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0210 to settle at $4.3805 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.25 percent at $9,583 a ton.
