Ultratech Cement jumps on buzz to establish cement plant in Tamil Nadu

Ultratech Cement is currently trading at Rs. 1968.15, up by 40.30 points or 2.09% from its previous closing of Rs. 1927.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1927.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1975.95 and Rs. 1927.00 respectively. So far 3029 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 2074.80 on 12-Oct-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1538.00 on 10-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1943.00 and Rs. 1855.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 53385.08 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 62.01% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.26% and 10.76% respectively.

Ultratech Cement is reportedly set to establish a Rs 2,500-crore greenfield cement plant in Tamil Nadu. It has done with the public hearing for the project in May, as part of the environment impact assessment and management plan. This plant will have the capacity of 5.5-million-tonne-a-year with 4.5-mt clinker production, 75 MW captive power plant (with additional power from diesel generating sets of about 18 MW) and a waste heat recovery facility of about 15 MW.

This new plant will have two production lines of 2.25 million tonnes each. The total project area is about 263 hectares with a plant area of about 86 ha. Ultratech’s factory will add to the 36 million tonnes of cement production capacity in Tamil Nadu.
