Copper futures settled higher on Thursday as the US dollar weakened against major rivals, and even with nervousness of a possible return of Donald Trump as president of the United States. Moreover, optimism surrounding Chinese demand followed by recent stimulus measures has also supported copper prices’ uptrend.
Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0150 to settle at $4.3515 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.15 percent at $9,507 a ton.
