Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project to start production in couple of days

The Minister of State in the PMO, Narayanasamy informed that with the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) giving 'First Approach to Criticality' to Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project; power generation to the tune of 1000 MW is likely to start in couple of days. This is the first time the commencement of the controlled nuclear fission process and also a step towards the subsequent beginning of power production in a nuclear reactor.

The minister also criticized the anti-nuclear protests led by the People's Movement against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) which resulted to a loss of Rs 2,000 crore to the Centre. The struggle committee is responsible for this loss because they misled the people with wrong information. The Central and state government appointed panels of experts and scientists and former President A P J Abdul Kalam visited the site to give assurance for its safety.
