India's tea production has dropped by 2.17% to 101.18 million kg in May as compared to Rs 103.42 million kg for the same month in the previous year. Tea production in the country declined due to a fall in output in Assam.
Tea output in Assam, which is a leading producer, drop by 13% during May to 46.65 million kg, as against 53.65 million kg in the same month last year. Further, tea Production in south India fell by 1.59 % to 24.18 million kg. However, Production of tea in West Bengal rose by 19.57% to 28.17 million kg in May from 23.56 million kg a year earlier.
