Shares of tobacco and beverages companies fell on the BSE, amid reports that the government may hike Goods and Services Tax (GST) on cigarettes, tobacco and aerated drinks.
Varun Beverages is currently trading at Rs. 621.65, down by 11.15 points or 1.76% from its previous closing of Rs. 632.80 on the BSE.
Godfrey Phillips India is currently trading at Rs. 5684.00, down by 73.75 points or 1.28% from its previous closing of Rs. 5757.75 on the BSE.
ITC is currently trading at Rs. 472.20, down by 4.95 points or 1.04% from its previous closing of Rs. 477.15 on the BSE.
