Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday as weakness in the US dollar made dollar-priced metals more attractive for buyers using other currencies, while investors are awaiting the Chinese Central Economic Work Conference (CEWC) this month for signs of additional monetary or fiscal stimulus. However, uncertainty surrounding trade tariffs limited further gains in copper prices.
Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.0715 to settle at $4.202 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.32 percent at $9,111.50 a ton.
