Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday

Most of the Asian markets traded lower in early deals on Tuesday, with the thin holiday trades on New Year ’s Day. Sharp selling off in financial and technology sector stocks with its global counter partners pressured local indices. China’s Shanghai slipped in the session with the persiting concerns over its wilting economy and on concerns over President-elect Donald Trump's tariff policies. Stock market of Japan and South Korea are closed for year end, while Hang Seng will close early for New Year’s day. 

Straits Times down by 3.24 points 0.09% to 3,792.49, Taiwan Weighted slipped by 135.95 points or 0.59% to 23,054.25, Shanghai Composite shrunk by 11.03 points or 0.32% to 3,396.30, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI dipped by 3.61 points or 0.22% to 1,634.07.

On the flip side, Hang Seng up by 125.25 points 0.62% to 20,166.67, Jakarta Composite rose by 43.33 points or 0.61% to 7,079.90.
