Copper futures settle higher as dollar weakens

16 Jan 2025 Evaluate
Copper futures settled higher on Wednesday amid weak dollar against its major peers as cooler-than-expected US CPI data eased fears that inflation was accelerating and increased the chances the Federal Reserve could cut interest rates twice this year. Moreover, China's recent stimulus measures also supported copper prices to some extent.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.0465 to settle at $4.3890 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.15 percent at $9,167.50 a ton.
