Asian markets trade mixed in early deals on Tuesday

Asian markets traded mixed in early deals on Tuesday, with most of the indices closed for Lunar New Year holidays. Stock market of Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and South Korea are closed for the day. Market participants sidelined ahead to the monetary policy announcements from the Bank of Canada, the US Fed and the European Central Bank later in the week. Japan’s Nikkei plunged with the selloff in chip-related stocks followed by decline in US AI value chain. Hawkish stance from the Bank of Japan also pressured the investments.

Nikkei 225 down by 465.21 points 1.18% to 39,100.59, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI declined by 9.43 points or 0.60% to 1,549.54.

On the flip side, Hang Seng rose by 27.34 points 0.14% to 20,225.11, and Straits Times up by 14.55 points 0.38% 3,811.26.
