Reliance Communications inches up on buzz of its tower tenancy talks

Reliance Communications is currently trading at Rs 83.60, up by 0.10 points or 0.12% from its previous closing of Rs. 83.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 83.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs 86.40 and Rs 83.10 respectively. So far 1595522 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 176.20 on 12-Nov-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 70.45 on 04-Oct-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 87.90 and Rs 81.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 17234.62 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 67.86% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.91% and 14.65% respectively.

The Indian mobile phone carrier is reported to be in talks with other telecom companies for offer its telecom tower on lease.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications (RCom) reported a net loss of Rs 99.00 crore for second quarter ended September 30, 2011 as compared to net loss of Rs 476.00 crore for the second quarter previous year. Company’s total income has decreased by 7.73% to Rs 2851.00 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 3090.00 crore for the same period last year.

Reliance Group, posted a net profit of Rs 252 crore for the quarter under review, lower by 43.5% to Rs 446.00 crore in the same period a year ago. The telecom company’s total operating revenue in the same period declined 4.6% to Rs 4,792 crore.

In a signal that the impact of the tariff war may have peaked out, R-Com managed to sustain an operating profit of Rs 1,605 crore for the September quarter, a marginal sequential increase. As R-Com’s net financial charges came down 44% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 227 crore, it helped the company post a 60.5% sequentially higher net profit for the September quarter.

Turnover from R-Com’s main wireless business rose 2.1% quarter-on-quarter to Rs4,417 crore between July and September.
