Stepping up pressure on the Congress party high command to rescind its decision on Telangana, 5 Lok Sabha Secretary Congress MP's such as L Rajgopal, A Saipratap, V Arun Kumar, G V Harsh Kumar, Anant Venkatram Reddy and one Congress member of Rajya Sabha, KVP Ramchandra Rao, submitted their resignations on Friday to the Andhra Pradesh Speaker to protest against the bifurcation of the state.

There seemed to be an evident divide among the Andhra leaders over resignations, with one section including Union Ministers Pallam Raju, Chiranjeevi and Tribal Affairs Minister KC Deo not keen on resigning, whereas on Thursday, 10 Congress MLAs and 4 MLCs from the Seemandhra region submitted their resignation to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker. Meanwhile, 14 TDP MLAs protested lack of firm assurances from the Centre on development of the proposed Seemandhra state have also resigned.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had said earlier on Thursday that, there was no question of reverting on the decision of creation of a separate Telangana state and given the situation being under control, there would be no reconsideration of the decision in the Monsoon Session, moreover, the state will be formed within the next six months.
