Graphite India surges on plan to restart operation at Bangalore unit

Graphite India is currently trading at Rs. 58.70, up by 0.60 points or 1.03% from its previous closing of Rs. 58.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 58.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 58.70 and Rs. 58.00 respectively. So far 788 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 96.90 on 17-Aug-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 57.55 on 05-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 68.95 and Rs. 57.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1133.18 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.43% and 16.34% respectively.

Graphite India is likely to restart operation at the plant in the Whitefield area of Bangalore, as it has received a legal reprieve from the Karnataka State Appellate Authority, which has set aside the closure order on its Bangalore unit by the Karnataka State Pollution Board last year. It had gone to the appellate authority, which in an interim order had in July stayed the board’s order.

Graphite India (GIL) is engaged in manufacturing of graphite electrodes. GIL set up its first facility at Durgapur in east India in 1967. Besides graphite electrodes, the company also manufactures anodes, other miscellaneous carbon and graphite products and calcined petroleum coke.
