Bharti Airtel’s arm launches mobile-based service for power bill payments

Bharti Airtel’s subsidiary - Airtel M Commerce Services (AMSL) has launched a mobile phone service for paying electricity bills by consumers of North Bihar Power Distribution Company (NBPDCL). Consumers of 21 districts of north Bihar can pay their electricity bill through Airtel money by sending message through their mobile phones or AMSL distributors located in towns and rural areas.

Besides, the company is all set to launch fourth generation (4G) services in Delhi by September this year and has selected Huawei for the network. The firm already offers 4G services in Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Chandigarh. After Delhi, the company will launch 4G services in Mumbai and the company is in talks with players such as Huawei and ZTE for network.
