Videocon Industries strengthens on discovering hydrocarbon in Sergipe-Alagoas Basin

Videocon Industries is currently trading at Rs. 172.40, up by 1.60 points or 0.94% from its previous closing of Rs. 170.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 173.70 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 177.00 and Rs. 170.30 respectively. So far 9041 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 246.25 on 03-Dec-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 163.75 on 31-Jul-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 177.00 and Rs. 166.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 5495.62 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.39%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 11.36% and 11.08% respectively.

Videocon Industries has informed that Petrolco Brasilciro SA (Petrobras), the Operator of the BM-SEAL-11 Concession (the Concession) reported that it has confirmed the existence of light hydrocarbons in the Appraisal Well currently drilled in the 'Farfan Discovery Area where a Discovery of Hydrocarbons was announced in the 'Farfan'' Exploration Well drilled in October 2012, in Concession BM-SEAL-11, in ultradecp waters of the Scrgipe-Alagoas basin Offshore.

Petrobras confirms the discovery made during the drilling of the first well extension 3-SES-176D (3-BRSA-1178D-SES), informally known as Farfan located in the concession area BM-SEAL-11, Block SEAL-M-426 in deep water of the Sergipe Basin. The results obtained confirms the extent of the discovery of light oil in the area previously drilled ‘Farfan' Exploration Well in turbidite sandstones of the Upper Campanian (Training Calumbi) as a statement to the market on October 11,2012. The Farfan Well is located 104 km from the city of Aracaju, about 5 km from the discovery well and at a water depth of 2,476 meters. The well found reservoir thickness of 51 m, with good conditions of permeability and porosity.

The well is currently under drilling and a DST will be performed to verify the formation and productivity of the reservoir. The consortium will continue the Discovery Assessment Plan (DAP), which is being evaluated by National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

Petrobras holds 60% Participating Interest in the Concession and EBV Brasil (a Brazilian Joint Venture Company equally held by Videocon Energy Brazil , a wholly owned overseas subsidiary of Videocon, and BPRL Ventures 'N.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation, a Government of India majority held company) holds the remaining 40% Participating Interest in the Concession, The consortium will carry on operations in the area to further confirm the extent of the hydrocarbons inplace and the characteristic of the reservoir conditions encountered.
