Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Former Delhi CM Atishi questioned why the Delhi government did not approve a plan to give an honorarium of Rs 2,500 to women in the city in its first cabinet meeting. Atishi accused the newly-formed BJP government of ‘failing to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise of providing financial assistance to women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana’.

Addressing a press conference, Atishi said that before the Delhi elections, Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda had assured that the scheme would be approved in the first cabinet meeting itself and by March 8, Rs 2,500 would be transferred to the bank account of every woman in Delhi. She alleged, ‘After the swearing in of BJP ministers and the cabinet meeting at 7 pm on Thursday, no such scheme was passed. If Modi's guarantee was real, this scheme should have been approved yesterday itself. But the first decision taken by the newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was to betray that promise.’ Displaying posters featuring Modi and Gupta, she asked, ‘When will this amount be credited to their accounts? Was this just another election gimmick?’

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who chaired the first cabinet meeting after taking the oath, announced that her government will implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme with Rs 5 lakh top-up and present the 14 pending CAG reports in the first sitting of Assembly. Delhi new CM said in a press conference that the Delhi government will implement the Centre's flagship scheme in the national capital and will pay for the top-up and will sign a MoU with the Centre.

Asked about Atishi pointing out that BJP had promised to pass the scheme to provide Rs 2,500 to women every month in the first cabinet meeting, Rekha Gupta said, ‘It's our government; the agenda will be ours. Let us work. She doesn't need to tell us everything; she has done what she has to while in power’. Rekha Gupta also announced portfolios of her council of ministers.
