Copper futures settle higher on weak American currency overseas

Copper futures settled higher on Monday as American currency tumbled overseas amid Ukraine peace deal optimism. Copper prices improved further on demand hopes after top metal consumer China vowed countermeasures against the US decision to impose tariffs on the country’s products on Tuesday.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.059 to settle at $4.6070 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.65 percent at $9,419 a ton.
