The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for allegedly planning to introduce a 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra claimed that while development work in the state has stalled, the Congress government is prioritizing minority reservations. Vijayendra also questioned why the term 'minority' is exclusively associated with Muslims, arguing that such policies of minority appeasement could lead to societal disturbances.

BJP leaders in Karnataka have strongly criticized the proposed 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts, calling it 'anti-Constitutional' and an example of 'minority appeasement politics'. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra urged people to 'teach Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a lesson' for prioritizing such policies. Another BJP leader, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, claimed that the proposal goes against the Constitution and its fundamental principles. The BJP leaders plan to raise this issue in the ongoing Karnataka Assembly, while the government has yet to respond.
