Indian rupee appreciated against the US dollar on Friday amid sharp rise in the domestic equity markets and fresh foreign capital inflows. Sentiments were upbeat as Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that India's services exports are registering healthy growth rates and the sector should aspire to reach $450 billion in exports, overtaking merchandise shipments, in the next financial year. Investors overlooked U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that India will face reciprocal tariffs, a move likely to hurt India's exports of agricultural and pharmaceutical goods. On the global front, Japanese yen weakened against other major currencies in the European session on Friday, following the release of domestic data for February.

Finally, the rupee ended at 85.99 (Provisional), appreciated by 37 paise from its previous close of 86.36 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 86.30 and 85.93 respectively.
