Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making plans to retire in September and that his recent visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur was linked to that.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Sanjay Raut said that PM Modi visited RSS headquarters in Nagpur to discuss retirement plans. He said, ‘Modi's successor will be from Maharashtra, and RSS will decide on that’. Raut further said, ‘From what I understand the entire Sangh prarivar wants a change in the country's leadership PM Modi's time is over and they want change and they also want to choose the next BJP chief’.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has countered Raut's allegations. Fadnavis affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would continue to be the leader and even in 2029 he will be the Prime Minister.

Raut's remarks came a day after PM Modi's visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. On Sunday, PM Modi paid floral tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh in Nagpur. PM was accompanied by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other leaders.
