NMDC Power, a wholly owned subsidiary NMDC and IL&FS Energy Development Co is likely to sign a joint venture (JV) deal on August 21, 2013 for the setting up of a 2x250 MW power project in Uttar Pradesh. The company has already selected IL&FS Energy as its strategic minority partner through a tender for the Rs 2,000 crore project.
NMDC, India's top ore miner, accounts for about 15 per cent of iron ore mined in the country, with annual production capacity of 30 million tonnes.
