Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Tuesday

15 Apr 2025 Evaluate
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Tuesday tracking firm domestic equity markets and weaker American currency overseas, despite the outflow of foreign funds from the Indian capital market. Foreign institutional investors offloaded equities worth Rs 2,519.03 crore on a net basis on Friday, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, the US administration's latest move to suspend the additional 26% tariffs on India till July 9 have also supported rupee sentiments. Rupee improved further on dovish Fed expectations and as crude oil prices hovering at record low levels. Forex markets were closed yesterday on account of Ambedkar Jayanti.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 85.70, stronger by 40 paise from its previous close of 86.10 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 85.85 and 85.59 respectively.
