Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Monday, pressured by the risk aversion in the market amidst concerns over tariff policies, and potential inflation from tariffs. Sharp sell offs in technological and financial sector stocks led losses in local indices. Japan’s Nikkei retreated after two consecutive gaining sessions with the cautiousness ahead of updates on US-Japan trade talks. Stock market of Hong Kong is closed today for Easter.

Nikkei 225 tumbled by 447.86 points or 1.29% to 34,282.42, Taiwan Weighted down by 260.04 points or 1.34% to 19,134.99, Jakarta Composite curtailed by 17.24 points or 0.27% to 6,421.03, KOSPI Index decreased by 0.34 points or 0.01% to 2,483.08, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI narrowed by 2.72 points or 0.18% to 1,496.68.

On the flip side, Straits Times higher by 38.28 points or 1.03% to 3,758.61, and Shanghai Composite rose by 9.71 points or 0.30% to 3,286.44.
