Indian rupee depreciated against the US dollar on Friday amid negative trend in the domestic markets. Traders were cautious amid ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. Investors took a note of Federation of Indian Export Organisations’ (FIEO) statement that with Pakistan suspending all trade ties with India, including that routes through third countries, the two-way commerce will now come to a complete halt. On the global front, Japanese yen weakened against other major currencies in the European session on Friday, as European shares eked out modest gains, with signs of easing Sino-U.S. trade tensions and some upbeat corporate earnings helping underpin investor sentiment.

Finally, the rupee ended at 85.41 (Provisional), depreciated by 08 paise from its previous close of 85.33 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 85.65 and 85.08 respectively.
