Bond yields trade higher on Monday

Bond yields traded higher on Monday as Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Dr V Anantha Nageswaran has said the economy is in good shape despite the challenging global environment. He also said that the current economic indicators show that the Indian economy is progressing well.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields jumped on Friday as traders cheered April's nonfarm payrolls data that beat expectations. Oil prices fell on Friday and were set for their biggest weekly losses since the end of March, as traders turned cautious ahead of an OPEC+ meeting to decide the group's output policy for June.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 7 basis points higher at 6.42% from its previous close of 6.35% on Friday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 7 basis points higher at 6.15% from its previous close of 6.08% on Friday.
