Rupee trades flat against US dollar on Thursday

The Indian rupee was trading flat against the US dollar on Thursday due to firm American currency overseas, while uncertainty over US-China trade talks and heightened cross-border tensions with Pakistan have also kept rupee under pressure. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve kept its benchmark interest rates unchanged in the 4.25% - 4.50% range. Foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 2,585.86 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, exchange data showed. 

The partially convertible currency is currently trading flat at its previous close of 84.77 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 84.7975 and 84.5275 respectively.
