JSW Steel leads the gainers list of BSE 'Metal' space

JSW Steel is currently trading at Rs 671.05, up by 25.85 points or 4.01% from its previous closing of Rs 645.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 645.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 677.35 and Rs 628.95 respectively. So far 479000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1363.40 on 05-Nov-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 532.05 on 04-Oct-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 690.05 and Rs 628.95 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 14395.52 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 37.71% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 26.63% and 34.27% respectively.

Jindal Steel up by 3.15%, Tata Steel up by 2.17% Sesa Goa up by 1.43% were the other top gainers on BSE “Metal “ index.

JSW Steel, India's second biggest steelmaker, has posted 71% year-on-year fall in quarterly profits, showing wounds from high global coal prices and an iron ore shortage that has compelled it to cut production.

The Mumbai-based steel firm, which is facing problems in sourcing key raw material iron ore after a court-directed suspension of mining in Karnataka, posted net profit of Rs 127 crore for the fiscal second quarter ended September compared with Rs 445 crore a year ago. However, revenue for the quarter rose 33% to Rs 7,625 crore.
