Bharti Airtel trades higher on the bourses

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 299.70, up by 0.75 points or 0.25% from its previous closing of Rs. 298.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 301.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 302.20 and Rs. 295.10 respectively. So far 76735 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 370.40 on 25-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 238.50 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 316.65 and Rs. 279.25 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 120321.74 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.40% and 10.37% respectively.

Bharti Airtel has effectively carried out field trial of a technology that provides cost-efficient 3G phone services using a communications satellite as a transmission line, in association with SoftBank Mobile. It has conducted this field trial in actual environment in Kenya. With this technology, telecom operator can develop mobile phone networks in rural areas in Africa and other areas where commercialisation of such operations is challenging.

With this initiative, both the firms have validated technologies and methods for providing communication services using a communications satellite in rural areas at a low cost.
