The Congress demanded the resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi till the investigation is over in the 2006 killing of a witness in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh Case. Prajapati was the only witness to the December 2005 police shootout in which Sohrabuddin Sheikh was killed.

Congress general secretary Ajay Maken said that 'How can Modi stay as chief minister when the investigation process is going on,' and added that 'There should be an inquiry into killing of the witness and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should enquire about it,'

The Congress also showed and distributed the CDs of the sting operation, which caught Prakash Javadekar on record. The BJP has been now challenging the credential of the journalist who has done it. The BJP dismissed all the allegations against Modi.
