Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Friday

Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Friday, saddled by the risk aversion in the market ahead of the US jobs report, which is expected to provide insights into the health of the US economy. Investor sentiments also got pressured with the uncertainty over trade talks between Washington and Beijing. 

Meanwhile, market participants closely awaited for a slew of economic data from China due on June 09, 2025, including consumer and producer prices as well as trade figures, amid continued weak domestic demand and ongoing uncertainty around US tariffs. Hang Seng slipped in the session, though is in track for a 2.3% gain after declining in the previous week. Stock markets of South Korea and Indonesia are closed for a holiday.

Hang Seng down by 49.88 points 0.21% to 23,857.09, Taiwan Weighted lower by 31.07 points or 0.14% to 21,643.36, Shanghai Composite lower by 1.98 points or 0.06% to 3,382.11, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI slipped 1.53 points or 0.10% to 1,516.59.

On the other hand, Nikkei 225 surged 137.35 points or 0.37% to 37,691.84 and Straits Times rose 4.84 points or 0.12% to 3,922.53.
